A trip to Podgorica will no doubt come with a short stint in this city. Whilst visiting Podgorica be sure to check out the towers and caves of amongst the ruins of Nemanjica grad (Nemanja´s town), a medieval fortification in the centre that makes for a great little day trip.

3. Bay of Kotor – you could not visit stunning Montenegro without a trip to the Bay of Kotor situated in the North of the country and bordering Croatia and Bosnia & Herzegovina. Also known as Boka Kotorska or the Gulf of Kotor, this area is famed for the charming little towns and villages, as well as popular Kotor. The old town of Kotor is listed a UNESCO World Heritage site being one of the best preserved medieval towns from the 12th to 14th century.
